If They Only Had a Byrna - Intruder Uses Bear Spray On Family

Bear Spray Attack in Hamilton Highlights the Need for Personal Protection

On this episode of… if they only had a Byrna: A teenager armed with bear spray and a knife breaks into a family’s home and attacks them in the middle of the night.

In the suburbs of Hamilton, Ontario, a family of four’s home was broken into by two teenagers who arrived in a stolen vehicle and were armed with both bear spray and a knife. Members of the family confronted the teenage intruders who immediately sprayed them with the bear spray, including their nine-month-old baby who was highly impacted by the dangerous chemicals. Ultimately one assailant escaped, and the other was arrested, but not before all four residents received minor injuries and had to be medically treated.

If they’d only had a Byrna… these homeowners would have had a viable, effective, and most importantly a LEGAL means to possibly stop the attack before they were injured or even killed. Having a Byrna SD or LE is great for home defense, and in Canada, it's the best less-lethal option available for home defense. Due to the patented pull-pierce technology, the launcher stays in a ready state INDEFINITELY. Just grab the launcher, point it at the intruder, and pull the trigger.

Most offenders are looking for an easy target of opportunity when committing burglaries and robberies. And many times, a positive show of force is all it takes for those would-be assailants to turn and run. Whether you're in Ontario or Alberta, Quebec or BC, remember, in most of these cases, YOU are your own first responder, so be smart, be safe, and be prepared to defend!
