Elderly Couple Attacked in Random Home Invasion
Last month in Winnipeg, an elderly couple was enjoying a quiet evening at home when an intoxicated stranger suddenly entered their living room. After grabbing a kitchen knife, the intruder attacked without warning - striking the woman and stabbing her husband. He fled moments later but was fortunately located and arrested by police soon after.
Had they possessed a Byrna, this couple would have had a safe, effective, and, crucially, legal way to confront the threat before being harmed. A Byrna SD or LE could have allowed them to create distance and stop the intruder’s advance with less-lethal rounds designed to incapacitate, not kill.
Regardless of age, facing an aggressive, intoxicated attacker empty-handed is dangerous. Ensuring your home defense plan includes a practical, less-lethal tool - one that can be used confidently by people of all ages and abilities can make all the difference when every second counts.
